Most respected council,
It is with the deepest and utmost regret i must pen this letter, for my heart is heavy with worry for the condition of my nation’s expedition to these strange islands. Our current leader, Oliver Spring, has been most negligent in his duties. To my experience, he has not been seen more than once by myself, and not a single time by any within my party. My advisors murmur to me the unrest among my men, for we have no direction other than my own at this moment, and I am not one to willingly step beyond my bounds.
I am but a simple tradeswoman, and I am a meager thing by my own admittance even if my men and allies would tell you otherwise, but I am Cattagian bred, born, and blooded. My heart throbs for my nation, its well being, and that of its people. I do not wish to speak out of turn, but those that claim to be in lead of this expedition, have made choices I do not think benefit us, or any. The land they have chosen is poor in prey, the soil loose and lifeless, the wood little more than kindle, the stone brittle, and the minerals impure. The rivers, while beautiful, offer small, boney fish and are too slim and shallow for the passing of anything but a dingy and unfit for reliable trade or correspondence with our neighbors, much less the mainland and those we have left behind.
But I digress... The purpose of this letter is two things; One, to ask for direction so I may do more than drink with my men and be merry, as fun is at may be. My second request, would be to lead our expedition to a more suitable location closer to our allies so that our small collective may have more protection, both from them and a more sheltered area which I and my party have scouted. It is a suitable place, thick with plump game, strong wood, and hopefully substantial mineral deposits considering the samples taken from the local areas.
It is with great eagerness I await your guidance, my council.
Forever honored to be your obedient servant,
R. Codwen
